This week, Instagram director Adam Mosseri took advantage of his Q&A session to talk about important topics such as features in testing, sponsorship and creator compensation. As we do every week, we decipher his answers for you to help you stay on top of Instagram news.
Yes. Open the Reel viewer, tap the top-right menu, scroll down and you’ll see the option “Link a Reel.”
Instagram allows up to two pinned comments per post.
Not inherently. Instagram does not downgrade branded content.
If performance drops, it’s usually because followers engage less with sponsored posts. The challenge: making branded content that still feels relevant and engaging to your audience.
Yes. The feature Hidden Words lets you filter custom keywords in comments, DMs, and recommendations.
It’s available under Settings → Content you see.
No. Posting frequently does not reduce reach. You may lose a few followers after posting (a normal behaviour), but overall, posting more leads to higher reach and follower growth. The priority is finding a sustainable rhythm.
Barely. More slides can slightly increase interactions, but the effect is minimal. Focus on the number of frames that best support your story.
Instagram is experimenting with monetization programs but hasn’t found a sustainable model yet. Direct payments often lead to more content, but not enough increased usage or revenue to offset the cost.
No large-scale rollout planned “until it’s sustainable.”
You might be part of a holdout group. Instagram sometimes excludes a small percentage of users from new features to compare behaviours. Mosseri says he’ll check whether this specific holdout should be ended.
Yes. The feature is confirmed, but delayed due to a broader rethink of the profile layout (highlights placement, blank grids among younger users, overall profile complexity).
Instagram intends to ship it when the new profile direction is clarified.
Mosseri thought it was possible but will double-check with the team to understand the limitation.
Instagram is exploring it. Templates should be less cookie-cutter, more tool-oriented, aimed at creators editing directly on mobile.
According to Mosseri, Instagram hasn’t made multiple changes.
The switch from square to vertical on profiles caused backlash, but reflects current usage. He will check if other adjustments occurred.
Hashtags don’t improve reach—but they don’t hurt it either.
No.
