Apple Music is opening a concert venue in London and setting up its radio station there

On 21 September, Apple unveiled Apple Music Hall, a 600-seat venue located in the Battersea Power Station shopping centre in London. It is a venue where music and high-tech come together.

As for the audience, the venue features a modular stage measuring nearly 12 metres, and a spatial sound system comprising 48 speakers positioned around the audience.

Behind the scenes, there are two recording and mixing studios that enable each concert to be recorded in multitrack and mixed either live or afterwards. The venue is wired for 16 cameras connected to a broadcast control room, which also accepts footage filmed on iPhones. For artists, performing a live show here means they’ll walk away with a Spatial Audio recording, a broadcast-ready mix and multi-camera videos – all from a single concert. The shows can also be streamed live worldwide.

Apple is taking advantage of this opportunity to relocate its London radio operations as well. These premises will be used for programmes, interviews, previews and performances organised with artists.
