Global, Europe’s largest commercial radio group, is launching ‘Plus’ on 23 September, a paid service that removes ad breaks from its music radio stations in the UK. Capital, Heart, Classic FM and Radio X each have their own version.
For £4.99 a month or £49.99 a year, you can remove adverts from a radio brand and its main channels. Capital Plus includes Capital, Capital Xtra, Capital Xtra Reloaded, Capital Chill, Capital Dance and Capital Anthems. Alternatively, for £9.99 a month or £99.99 a year, you can access the ad-free service across all the group’s music stations.
What’s actually changing. The adverts are being replaced by music, and subscribers also get a weekly chance to take part in games such as Cash Call, a 15 per cent discount on merchandise and priority access to events.
The Global Player app remains free, and adverts will continue to be shown on existing streams, FM and DAB.
